You’ll find it all this summer whether you enjoy outdoor live music, movies under the stars, or festivals full of art, music and culture. Mark your calendars because you won’t want to miss out on these fun events around DC.

Fridays at Fort Totten

Just outside your front door, you’ll find free live music every Friday at The Modern DC. Fridays at Fort Totten include food trucks and live music from local bands of a variety of genres. The full line up consists of:

June 7 – Jimi Smooth Band

June 14 – Jarreau Williams Xperience

June 21 – Jah Works

June 28 – Allthebestkids

July 5 – The Monster Band

July 12 – Pebble to Pearl

July 19 – Sol Roots

July 26 – Cecily

August 2 – Oh He Dead

August 9 – The JoGo Project

August 16 – Feel Free

August 23 – Deacon Izzy & The Congregation

Outdoor Movies

Catch an outdoor movie at The Drive-In at Union Market – back again this summer for the seventh season – on the first Friday of every month from now through October. It’s just $15 per car or free to walk-ups. Grab some delicious food from the vendors inside, then head outside for pre-show fun and a movie the whole family can enjoy. Find the full movie list here.

Festivals

Make your summer in DC one to remember with fun, family-friendly festivals. Here are just a few festivals you won’t want to miss this summer.

Smithsonian Folklife Festival is happening June 29th and June 30th at the National Mall. This year, the focus is on the power of music. Enjoy a weekend full of activities, live music, food trucks, drinks, workshops and more.

Capital Fringe Festival will kick off its 14th year on July 9th with 94 total productions spread across seven different venues and a total of 13 stages. Immerse yourself in independent, theatre, music, art, dance, and any other form of live performance and visual art at this festival.

17th Street Festival is full of diverse restaurants and retailers that are worth celebrating. Stroll through 100 vendors displaying their works of art in the realms of jewelry, ceramics and so much more. Let your kids play in the kid zone while you enjoy live music and entertainment.
