The Modern DC’s Affordable Dwelling Unit Program
December 13, 2019 –At The Modern DC, we believe in housing for all. That’s why we're a proud participant in DC’s Affordable Dwelling Unit (ADU) Program. This means a select number of apartment homes are available for people who meet the Affordable Dwelling Unit qualifications. Whether you’re a senior, a family, a couple or a single person looking for affordable housing, The Modern DC just might be the home for you.
Qualifications*
The first step in determining your qualifications for The Modern DC’s Affordable Dwelling Unit Program is taking a look at your median family income (MFI). We offer one- or two-bedroom floor plans with rents affordable to households making 60% or 80% of the MFI per DC’s Housing guidelines. The income maximum ranges vary depending on the number of people in your household.
For example, if you are one person seeking an ADU with a rent affordable for someone making 60%, you may qualify for a one-bedroom home if you earn between $33,822- $49,224. You can find the minimum and maximum income ranges on our website here.
Senior Affordable Dwelling Units
The Modern DC also offers Senior Affordable Dwelling Units for people 62 years of age or older. This is the perfect home for those who maybe want to downsize. Or maybe they want to be closer to their family also living at The Modern DC or nearby. The same income qualifications found at the link above apply to these units as well.
